Suddenly, Anette handed me a golden spear that had been split in two.
It had a large central blade with two smaller blades on either side,
forming a trident. I knew what this spear was.
"Thunder Spear Aspetra!"
That meant I had a rough idea of what was happening now.
"But Aspetra is a mystery event, though?"
The storyline generally went like this: Anette's family, the Arnoira
family, had passed down a divine spear.
One day, the spear gets damaged, and someone testifies that Emily had
visited the student council room, dragging her into the incident.
To prove her innocence, the player must find the real culprit who
broke the spear.
The event had various possible outcomes.
Ultimately, it was about proving Emily's innocence, and depending on
the evidence presented, the identified culprit would be punished.
In one ending, the true culprit is none other than Anette Nell
Arnoira herself.
"So... you're asking me to take care of this?"
"Yes, unless there's some other weapon here that needs
attention?"
Her arrogant expression made me feel like she was looking down on me,
even though we were face-to-face.
"Still, I roughly understand the situation."
Anette Nell Arnoira was the real culprit behind the Thunder Spear's
damage.
In the game, she staged the incident to shift the blame to someone
else.
But for some reason, she now wanted me to repair it instead of
blaming others.
"But why are you asking me to do this?"
This was the biggest mystery.
Why repair it instead of passing the blame like in the game? And why
me?
I didn't know Ken Feinstein had the skills to craft items until I
became him.
There was no reason to entrust such an important task to an
insignificant extra character like me.
"Hmph, no particular reason. I happened to watch Siegfried's
tournament yesterday."
But an unexpected name popped up. Siegfried?
"I heard about you in the winner's speech. You're the one who
made that demon sword, aren't you?"
"Demon sword?"
She must have been referring to the black sword I made for Siegfried.
It wasn't grand enough to be called a demon sword.
But more importantly...
I recalled Siegfried's victory speech from the previous day.
[I owe my victory in this tournament to Ken Feinstein, my junior who
crafted this sword.]
Damn! So that was it!
No wonder the student council president knew about me.
"That sword wasn't ordinary. If you can make something like
that, you can repair this spear too."
"..."
Repair a weapon...
I've never done that before.
If I told her the truth, would she just let me go?
"That's unlikely..."
From the moment she kidnapped me and brought me here secretly, it was
clear she had no other choice.
“Reward? You can name your price. How long will it take?”
She wanted this repair done in secret.
"Uh, this is kind of sudden..."
In the game, she didn't want to take responsibility, which was why
she tried to pin the blame on someone else.
If word got out that she had the spear repaired, the news would
quickly spread, and the head of the Arnoira family would find out
through the academy.
To avoid that, it made more sense to entrust the repair to a student
who could be controlled rather than an NPC craftsman.
This was a request I couldn’t refuse.
“Can you give me about three days?”
“I’ll give you two. Make it happen.”
"Then why ask?"
This was a difficult situation.
Even if she were just a student council president, the Arnoira family
was one of the kingdom's most prestigious families, like the Martinez
family.
If their eldest daughter wanted to, she could do anything to me.
“…Wait a minute.”
On second thought, this might be an opportunity.
I suddenly felt a sense of calm as a bright idea came to mind. I
leisurely sipped the tea in front of me and looked back at her.
“Alright. I’ll repair it in two days.”
Anette smiled, seemingly pleased with my response.
"Haha, you're not very demanding. So, how much do you want for
the reward?
I’m not unreasonable. Name your price."
Despite her composed exterior, she must have been under a lot of
stress due to the spear’s damage.
She likely felt relieved that I accepted the two-day deadline.
In that case, I should gladly accept her generous offer.
I won’t hold back on the reward.
“I want that.”
I pointed my finger at her.
“…What?”
Anette stared blankly at my finger, then, after a moment of
realization, she covered her mouth with a sly smile.
“Haha, so you’re more cunning than you look. Are you asking for
me?”
“No! I meant the necklace around your neck!”
Why on earth would I ask for something like that now?
Startled by her sudden remark, I raised my voice in a flustered tone.
But instead of reacting to my tone, Anette seemed more concerned with
the content of my request.
“This? Do you even know what this is before asking for it?”
Of course, this is much more valuable than that!
“Yes, I do. It’s the Full Moon Necklace, blessed by the goddess
herself and passed down by the head of the Arnoira family.”
“Then you should know how priceless it is…”
Anette glared at me, growling.
But she was misunderstanding something.
The one at a disadvantage here wasn’t me.
“So, you have a choice: either take responsibility for losing the
necklace or face punishment for damaging the spear.”
“You…
How much do you know?”
She must have been shocked.
No one was supposed to know she was the one who damaged the spear.
But here I was, a random student, bringing it up.
But she couldn’t hurt me or refuse my demand.
The Arnoira family is a family of priests. The Full Moon Necklace
isn’t the only one of its kind.
Eventually, time would pass, and a new necklace would be made with
the goddess's blessing.
What mattered was that the current head of the family gave it to her,
not the necklace itself.
It wasn’t comparable to the spear.
The scales tipped heavily in my favour, and Anette knew this better
than anyone.
“...Grr.”
Finally accepting the harsh reality, Anette made her decision and
glared at me.
“Fine, I’ll give you the necklace.”
Just as I expected.
“…But there’s a condition.”
“A condition?”
That was unexpected.
She held up two fingers, indicating two conditions.
“One, no one must know about this spear.”
As expected, one condition was a confidentiality clause. It made
sense since the whole point of repairing it was to cover up the
damage.
The crucial second condition.
She held up one finger and stated it clearly.
“Two… the repair must be a perfect restoration.”
“…What?”
Ignoring my response, she folded her arms and sipped her tea again,
her eyes sharp as she looked at me.
The look on her face said she wouldn’t give me what I wanted unless
I met her conditions.
"A perfect restoration…"
Initially, Anette probably only wanted the spear reattached, just
enough to hide the damage. But my demand prompted her to raise the
bar.
Now she wanted a perfect repair, one that wouldn't reveal it had ever
been damaged.
"What should I do?"
I had only two days left.
Within that time, I had to level up my repair skills enough to fix
the spear.
I could give up on the necklace and accept money instead, but I
needed that necklace.
"With that, I could probably substitute the goddess's token."
It was an item needed to break Raphne's curse.
The Full Moon Necklace could be a substitute material for crafting
the Goddess Pendant.
I had noticed something while crafting items recently.
There were differences between this world and the game.
For example, in the original game, you could only craft armour by
combining Dark Steel and Black Magic stone.
But in reality, I turned that combination into a sword. The raincoat
for Mary was another example.
The method of using spirit stones in clothing didn’t exist in the
game.
This meant that if the Goddess Pendant had similar properties, it
might be possible to create something similar using different
materials.
That’s why the Full Moon Necklace caught my eye.
The Full Moon Necklace was a special item created by the Arnoira
family, who served as high priests in the Lillias Kingdom, with the
blessing of the goddess.
Its nature was similar to the kingdom's treasure, the Goddess’s
Token.
Both items were blessed by the goddess.
So, it was worth a try.
“…So, can I ask you for a favour for a day?”
I bowed my head and asked Raphne.
“…Huh?
You mean…”
Raphne seemed startled.
I had no choice. I only had two days.
In that time, I had to grind to raise my repair skill and fix the
spear.
To cover the lack of time...
“...You’re saying you want to stay overnight?”
I needed to stay up all night to raise my skill level.
Even though Raphne always told me to stay, I was worried she might be
annoyed by the sudden request.
After all, she was still a girl, and having a guy stay over might...
“Wow! Really? You’re really staying over? Yay!”
“Uh, is that okay?”
“Yeah, yeah! Totally okay! Stay as long as you want!”
Luckily, Raphne seemed thrilled and eagerly grabbed my hands.
