The Paladin Monopolizes the Sacred Relics - 8
I climbed up onto the wall. After all, it wasn’t every day that one got to watch an all-out brawl between children and adults.
Moreover, I didn’t think my students would lose.
I hadn’t taught them for long. However, they had a certain advantage that made up for it.
That advantage was… being an Apostle of the Sun God!
Acolytes that were under an Apostle grew faster than regular priests, the reason being that they inherited a portion of the Apostle’s abilities.
Even if their training was slightly lacking, I was still an Apostle.
In other words, it's like they've hitched a free ride on a bus!
"Let's see..."
Hmm. Yeah. Hector.
That kid. He's fighting pretty well.
Everytime his brown hair shook, someone was slammed into the ground. I had modified the Song of Fire to specifically suit someone of his build.
His usual light movements had become more weighty; his hands extended with power.
It was purely strength. Though still weak, the divine power was further enhancing that strength. A monstrous strength that a child's body couldn’t normally utilize.
This was the result of praying day and night for an entire month.
Ordinary kids couldn't get this strong in just a month.
Even though my current level and abilities weren’t exactly high, to think that this kind of power was possible…
Bang! Bang!
Why does it sound like a bomb exploding with those punches? Impressive, really. Oh, look at that, he's utilizing divine power quite well too.
I turned my head to analyze someone else. Pavel.
The blonde one that looked more like a girl than a boy.. Honestly, the Song of Fire suited them better than Hector.
Their deft hand movements subtly taunted the enemies. The punches that narrowly missed made the gangsters grind their teeth in frustration.
"You little rat!"
Then, taking advantage of a momentary lapse, a hook.
The well-aimed punch struck a vital spot. The gangster staggered back, gasping. If it had been a sword instead of a punch, that move could have been fatal.
A cunning fighter, like that of a viper.
After turning away from the blonde one, I glanced at the kid with the same jet-black hair as me. Contrary to my expectations, Linden was quiet and methodical.Their precise, textbook movements calmly pressured the gangster in front of them, showing a natural talent for one-on-one combat.
Hitting a wall, the surprised gangsters tried to escape. But at that moment, a smooth kick struck their temples.
Hmm. Clean work.
Now, let's see... the girls.
"Screeech!"
"Natasha! Shut up!"
"But, I'm scared!"
Is this the first time they've been in a gang fight? Well, at least they’re dodging nicely. Marie was similar to Pavel. She focuses on speed rather than force. Her swift hands jabbed at the gangsters, cutting off their breaths..
There's no need to worry about Marie... but compared to her, Natasha is...
"Please, don't come closer!"
Though she kept screaming, Natasha's kick was hefty. A brutal display of force.
The blow sounded similar to the one that Hector had created earlier. Perhaps they had a secret innate strength; it was hard to believe that someone with a small frame could produce such a powerful kick.
For a moment, the gangster leader’s feet left the ground. He was knocked away, coughing and rolling around.
I rubbed my hands together.
Good.
Very good.
My teachings have followed through perfectly!
"Hehehe."
With this, we’ll take control of this area’s market. The protection fee that was going into the merchants' pockets will now go straight into mine.
Black Steel? Screw them!
This area will be taken over by the Cult of Ra!
"You... damn it!"
Falcon, who had initially fallen, stood up whilst trembling. So, that one managed to recover, huh? Hector had fire in his eyes, but I held him back from charging back in. "I'll handle this."
I jumped down from the wall and stood in front of him.
"Falcon. You’re not the real boss around here, are you?"
"You... damn it... with blood still wet behind your ears (inexperienced/young)… Pathetic...son of a!"
"What are you talking about?"
I scratched my head, then lowered my hand.
"There's no blood on me though?"
"Aaaaargh!"
Falcon charged at me. His attack was as predictable as the clear skies, and I could see numerous openings.
[Song of Fire activates.]
[Physical abilities increase.]
The path of his attack was obvious. I didn’t have a sword, but I wouldn’t have needed one for him.
Taking advantage of one of the wide-open gaps, I thrust my fist into his face.
"Hey. Your jaw's wide open."
Crack!
I shattered his jaw and then grabbed his head. I swung him around and slammed him into the ground. Shattering his jaw, I grabbed his head and swung him around. Slightly pulling my arm back, I slammed his skull into the ground.
"Hey."
I sat on top of him and grabbed his hair, lifting his head off the floor. Blood was gushing out of his broken nose as fear filled his face.Oh dear. How pitiful.
However, I had no intention of showing mercy.
"How much money do you have?"
"Black Steel can't be taken lightly... Ugh!"
"Where do you little brats think you're going... Ugh!"
"These guys have lost their minds... Urgh!"
Victory after victory.
I relentlessly overwhelmed Black Steel. Once I start something, I see it through to the end.
"Crush them all!"
"Leave it to us!"
At first, Hector was hesitant, but he eventually stepped up. The other kids, filled with confidence, followed behind him.
We promptly defeated the Black Steel thugs one by one. If they had gathered in one place, it might have been tough, but they foolishly spread out, making it easy to beat them all.
"Get them!"
"Finish them!"
Hector seemed to have a lot of pent-up rage. Well, from what I've heard, they had given him a hard time.
I laughed as I watched the boy effortlessly throw them around.. Haha. My little cash cows. They were rolling on the ground!
Swoosh!
After taking all their wallets, we headed to their last hideout.
Bang!
I kicked open the door. By now, I had taken down about 30 members of their gang. It was a considerable number for a backstreet gang, but this was the end.
As the door of the bar opened, the gang members jumped in surprise. Unlike before, they pulled out bats and short daggers.
"Who are you?!"
"What are you punks doing here?!"
"Please, help me!"
I suddenly burst into tears. I pinched my thigh to squeeze out an extra teardrop.
"Outside... there are people from another area..."
"What?"
"Someone's causing trouble in our territory?"
A man sitting on the second floor abruptly put his glass down and signaled to a few gang members nearby.
"Go check it out."
"Yes, sir!"
Five out of the ten members left. I staggered to my feet and let the kids waiting outside come in, then quickly shut the door.
Click.
I locked the door from inside and turned to Hector.
"How was my acting?"
"It was amazing, boss."
"You're the god of acting, boss!"
"...Incredible."
"There's no fox like this in the world..."
"You're awesome, boss!"
These kids.
Now they know how to play along perfectly.
Without another word, I picked up my wooden sword. There was a thudding sound behind the door.
"What, what? It's locked?!"
"What? Open it right now!"
There was a banging sound, but what could they do? The door was surprisingly sturdy.
I made eye contact with a man who seemed to be the boss on the second floor. The one-eyed man smirked coldly.
"...You cheeky brat. Do you have something you want from me?"
"I want your position."
"Forget it. You'll die."
"Whether or not I die is for me to decide."
I drew my wooden sword. The remaining gang members, who realized the situation, grabbed their weapons and stood up.
Their boss clicked his tongue and made a light gesture.
"Pierce their stomachs. Let them snap out of it."
I took a step forward and glanced back at the kids.
"All of you, watch closely."
Facing an opponent with weapons, this was our first real battle.
If we are to live here, it's a confrontation we can't avoid at some point.
This will be a good experience.
"This is how you beat someone."
I tapped the wooden sword against my shoulder. I took a short, deep breath.
Then, in the next moment.
I launched myself off the ground.
"This bastard?!"
I let the words pass by. I only focused. Twisting my body, I thought about where and how to target.
[Song of Fire activates.]
[Physical abilities increase.]
I can see it. The opening. I deflected the incoming dagger to the side. Gripping the wooden sword, I struck down powerfully, crushing the foot of the thug.
"Aaaargh!"
I continued by spinning around and demolishing his jaw.
Blood flew as the thug was knocked back, and a baseball bat swooped in from behind him.
From the right.
I can see it all.
These opportunities were rare. How many times will I get to dominate against weak opponents like this?
Let's use this opportunity to test myself. To explore my limits.
[Ember activates.]
Flames erupted from my hand. Unlike before, they were intense and visually striking, causing the approaching thug with the baseball bat to hesitate.
"F-fire?!"
"It's magic!"
"It's Ra's power!"
The Ember I wielded touched the thug's hand. He screamed as the flames spread.
"Fire!!! Fire!!! Get water!!! Bring water!!!"
So dramatic.
At the very worst, it was only a first-degree burn.
With one hand engulfed in flames, I calmly adjusted my energy. Closing my eyes amidst the hesitant and hasty enemies, I focused.
Currently, I am quite strong, but…
What if I use the Prayer of Fire?
[Using the Prayer of Fire.]
[Your body becomes somewhat warm.]
[Physical abilities slightly increase.]
It’s not over yet.
The most important part is missing!
[Using the Blessing.]
[You feel somewhat better.]
Ah. Much better.
