The Sniper Hides Their Eyes - 2
Hunters each carve out their own legends.
Some become the protectors of nations, while others are remembered as heroes who lead humanity forward.
Even the great figures recorded in history books pale in comparison to their achievements.
But even such people have enemies that trouble them.
For example, World Bosses.
These are nothing like the monsters that emerge from Gates.
They are disasters.
Even if an entire nation mobilized its military, they couldn’t stop one. Only a united global raid could handle them.
But I ended that disaster.
With a single pull of the trigger.
Ding!
A system message appeared even with my eyes closed.
It was still fascinating.
'If I had to describe it, it's more like receiving information than actually seeing it.'
It was a sensation entirely different from direct vision.
It felt like something was transmitting data directly into my consciousness.

"……"
Death God??
A rather grandiose title had been bestowed upon me.
Titles reflected a Hunter’s path.
The stronger the title, the greater the Hunter's achievements.
'Hunters with 'God' in their title are considered the strongest in the world, right?'
Since I was blind, I often listened to the radio.
Among the crackling frequencies, I had heard many stories.
The most frequently mentioned names belonged to the few nation-level Hunters referred to as "Gods."
And now, that included me.
'All I did was pull my finger. Yet, here I am.'
With a single click, rewards flooded in.
Two tickets.
Bundles of scrolls.
A glowing blue orb.
And 100 golden coins.
All of these settled into my inventory.
But...
Was this good?
'Considering I soloed that insane thing, isn’t this a bit underwhelming?'
I wasn’t sure.
I had lived my life fumbling through the world.
A shut-in like me wouldn’t be well-versed in the Hunter industry’s standards.
So, I had no way to judge whether these rewards were outstanding or meager.
'I’m curious. Should I use one?'
I started with the Equipment Draw Ticket.
Fwoosh!
As I used the ticket, ten cards appeared.
The cards floated in the air, slowly encircling me.
They all had the same back design.
The figure of the Immortal Knight, whom I had defeated, was vividly imprinted on them.
It seemed I had to choose one.
Which one should I pick?
I stared at them for a long time.
But since they all had the same pattern, how was I supposed to know which was best?
'It’s a World Boss reward, so something good should be here, right?'
I had no way of knowing which choice was optimal.
This might trigger my indecisiveness.
Then it hit me.
I had Clairvoyance.
I lightly knocked my forehead.
"…Idiot. Why didn’t I think of that?"
The moment I opened my eyes, information poured in like an explosion.
A flood of data overwhelmed my vision.
The texture, structure, and hidden details of each card—everything was exposed.
A thunderous headache followed.
Though since my level had increased, it wasn’t as unbearable as before.
"Ugh."
But It was still painful.
The sheer volume of information felt like it was crushing me.
Seeing too much was a burden I couldn’t yet control.
I hadn’t mastered this ability yet.
But I couldn’t resist the temptation of card grinding.
"Ugh. Who cares if my head and eyes hurt? If I can pick the best one, that’s all that matters."
If I looked in a mirror, my status might say:
State:
Soaked in Dopamine.
As I activated Clairvoyance to scan the cards—

"……?"
I stared blankly at the message.
What the hell?
This was supposed to be my solo card draw session.
But the system interfered.
Even my eyes couldn’t see the secrets within the cards.
The ultimate countermeasure against cheaters.
"Unbelievable."
I frowned in frustration.
The only thing I could perceive was the faint glow seeping from each card.
Each card radiated a different, dreamlike hue.
Black, gold, purple, red, blue…
'How am I supposed to choose based on colors alone?'
Five of them were white, likely the most common and least valuable tier.
So I had to pick one from the remaining options.
'I'll go with black.'
It was the color that best suited someone like me, who had lived in darkness.
I lightly tapped the black card with my fingertip.
The black energy swirled, shifting like a living entity.
The dark waves surged through my fingers and took form.
"Oh."
The effect was extravagant.
I had a feeling I pulled something big.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Equipment Draw (World Boss: Immortal Knight) selection completed.]
[Congratulations.]
[You have obtained the exclusive weapon of the World Boss.]
Name: Ashen Emotions, Asadia
Grade: ?
Type:

Durability: ?
Attack Power: ?
State:
?
Description: ?
Effect: ?
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The item had a title attached to it.
I had never heard of such a thing.
Ashen Emotions, Asadia.
Not quite as grand as "Death God."
But still, it sounded imposing.
It felt like I had drawn something amazing, yet its abilities remained entirely hidden.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Unidentified Equipment]
[Appraisal Required]
[Cannot be
Equipped]
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seemed that unless it was appraised, I wouldn’t be able to use it.
A quiet chuckle escaped me.
'But I have Clairvoyance, don’t I?'
Appraisal?
Not necessary.
I opened my eyes again.
And the weapon was laid bare before me.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Ashen Emotions, Asadia]
Grade: Relic
Type:
Parasitic
Durability: Infinite
Attack Power:
1 (Growth Type)
Non-tradable: Exclusive weapons are bound
equipment.
Thoughts: Crave my power. Then, I shall
dominate you!!!
Description: A mysterious weapon infused
with emotions and darkness, formed at the moment Achilles fell into
corruption.
Effects: Equipping Asadia accumulates
‘Emotion: Exaltation’ over time. Defeating enemies with Asadia
accumulates ‘Emotion: Euphoria.’
[Exaltation Effect] Each stack increases damage by 10%. Maximum stacks: 10,000. At maximum stacks, damage increases by 100,000%. However, if ‘Emotion: Exaltation’ surpasses a critical point, it will transition into ‘Emotion: Domination.’
[Domination Effect] Damage increase is permanently maintained. Ignores all enemy defense permanently. However, the user will be consumed by Asadia’s influence, seeking endless destruction.
[Euphoria Effect] Each enemy killed accumulates ‘Emotion: Euphoria.’ Asadia’s base attack power scales according to ‘Emotion: Euphoria’ stacks.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The indistinct form flickered like heat waves.
If one didn’t know better, it could be mistaken for gray smoke rising from its surface.
A parasitic Hunter weapon?
Swoosh!
There was no time to react.
"Oh my."
Asadia quietly wrapped around my gun.
Like a living entity, it flowed over the surface, as if consuming the firearm.
In just an instant, my gun had transformed into something entirely different.
The barrel had elongated into a sleek, sharp form, the surface now infused with ashen patterns.
Darkness spread over it like an eerie glow, as if the weapon itself would fire pure darkness.
The small, lightweight revolver had turned into a full-fledged sniper rifle.
"This… is too big."
The tip of the barrel nearly touched the ground, and the body was as thick as my chest.
I wasn’t sure if I could even wield it properly.
But it wasn’t heavy.
In fact, it felt like it had been custom-fitted to my hands.
I tightly gripped the stock with both hands.
A surge of exhilaration and confidence rose within me.
My emotions heightened.
Power was accumulating inside Asadia.
A searing thrill started at my fingertips, coursing through my arms and into my entire body.
‘Just holding it increases the stacks.’
My eyes instantly analyzed the changes in my body.
The information appeared before me.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
State: Exaltation (2 Stacks) (20%)
Emotion: Slight Expectation and Excitement
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was overflowing with power, yet teetering on the edge of control.
Whoosh.
I let go of the weapon.
The moment I released it, the raging energy within me dissipated.
An instant emptiness washed over me.
Like an overflowing river suddenly drying up.
'...I need to be careful with this.'
The power was intoxicating.
For an ordinary person, the overwhelming sensation of ‘Exaltation’ would make them lose count of their stacks and get devoured by Asadia before realizing it.
Even Achilles had succumbed to this power.
But I was different.
I could see my emotions.
Thanks to Clairvoyance, I could precisely track how many Exaltation stacks I had accumulated and how close I was to Domination.
Seeing too much was a burden, but at least I had control over this weapon.
Without my ability, I, too, would have become Asadia’s prey.
A shiver ran down my spine at the thought.
"Did it have to be a sniper rifle, though?"
How was I supposed to carry this around?
A bit of a letdown.
Then, as if responding to my words, Asadia shifted back into a revolver.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thoughts: I gave you everything! Now crave me! Hold me!
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What a straightforward weapon.
Skill draw resulted in nine white cards.
The floating white cards seemed to mock me.
A World Boss reward, yet all white?
"This is just unfair."
As I lowered my head in disappointment, I noticed one card of a different color.
Blue.
"…Might as well trust this one."
Fwoosh!
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Skill]
Name: Composure
Grade: C
Type:
Passive
Description: Allows the user to suppress
emotional agitation even in extreme situations, enhancing calm
decision-making. It specializes in stabilizing emotions and
maximizing combat efficiency.
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'…Composure?'
At first, the name disappointed me, but as I read the description, I realized its true value.
'I actually pulled something good.'
After acquiring [Composure], I found it much easier to control my emotions as Exaltation stacks increased.
Each stack raised my gauge by about 4%.
In theory, I could go up to 25 stacks, but for safety, 20 seemed like the best compromise.
With proper management, this could be an incredibly powerful weapon.
And then came the enhancement scrolls.
Generally, lower probabilities yielded better effects.
But failure meant complete destruction of the equipment.
"Why does everything just explode?"
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skill Enhancement Scroll (1% / Fail) x1
Skill Enhancement
Scroll (10% / Fail) x10
Equipment Enhancement Scroll (1% / Fail)
x1
Equipment Enhancement Scroll (10% / Fail) x10
—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, I used Clairvoyance to check them all.
My eyes could even observe probability itself, piercing through the very essence of the scrolls.
Each and every one of them carried the fate of inevitable failure.
But I couldn’t just throw them away.
'Not a single one of these 22 scrolls has a chance of success? If I can sell them later, I should. No one else knows they’re doomed to fail but me.'
'What is this essence even used for?'
A single blue orb floated alone in my inventory.
It looked special, but strangely, it didn’t attract my attention the way the draw tickets or enhancement scrolls did.
When I used my Clairvoyance to peer at those, it felt like dopamine exploded in my brain. But this? It didn't spark that kind of thrill.
'Well, it’s probably nothing major.'
Yet curiosity had a way of drawing things out.
I pulled out the orb, finding it to be about the size of a fingernail.
It rolled around in my palm, but I had no clue what it was meant for.
Still, it was a World Boss reward.
It had to be something extraordinary, right?
Just as I braced myself for the eye strain and prepared to use Clairvoyance—
Hayangi, who had been resting at my feet, suddenly lifted its head.
"Woof!"
"Hayangi, what are you— Hey! This isn’t a snack!"
I reached out in a panic, but it was already too late.
The blue orb vanished into Hayangi’s mouth in an instant.
All I could do was watch in stunned silence.
[...What is this body?]
Hayangi spoke.
Or more accurately—
Something borrowing Hayangi’s body had spoken.
